Have you been trying to lose that extra few pounds for the past few years? Feeling like you’re constantly battling to shift those stubborn pesky pounds.

We all at some point in our lives have a bit of a struggle with our weight, whether its losing weight or eat more healthy we are all controlled by that pesky thing it’s been an issue for many many years in society and now it’s time to make a change.

The world is steadily becoming obese and many people don’t know where to turn for help.

Where Do Weight Problem’s Begin?

We live in a society where everybody is different, its natural we weren’t created to be robots and drones all the same walking talking and looking the same. Some people are larger in both height and weight some a lot smaller.

Regardless of height, weight can affect a person’s life in drastic ways whether you’re over weight or underweight it can feel as though you are being restricted from doing that certain job you’ve always wanted to do, unable to find clothes that fit how they should most importantly not having the correct balance of nutrients in your diet meaning you are unhealthy and at risk for future health problems.

We are taught from a young age about food, what is good for you and what is bad for you, however when we enter adulthood and have to decide for ourselves some of us chose the bad foods and some don’t even eat at all thinking that’s the way to control weight.

You learn your eating habits from being a child you either take your time eating slowly with no interest in food or you eat quickly with not much time to breath in-between bites, these relationships with food can vary from person to person and can become unhealthy setting us up for unhealthy habits as an adult.

Why is it that food has now become a matter of comfort or a way to socialise? Food seems to be misunderstood, people eat for fun rather than eat for fuel that your body needs.

The world has progressively changed over the years and the idea of a perfect body has changed from Marilyn Monroe to a catwalk model who fits into a size zero! It’s this ever changing perceptions of what we are told is “perfection” which makes it hard for people to get in touch with what is right for them, were always striving to be like that celebrity in the magazines but without airbrush they look exactly the same as us.

Why Is Dieting So Difficult To Stick To?

How many times have you asked yourself this question?

Believe me you are not alone the second we put the word diet into our lives we suddenly become these food munching nonstop eating monsters. This is simply because when we start saying to ourselves “I can’t eat that I’m on a diet” we are punishing ourselves we have made this decision without first agreeing with our own subconscious mind, the diet then becomes a burden and we feel that we need a ‘treat’ and that we want to rebel.

We seem to have that little voice inside that gets louder telling us go on treat yourself. Listen next time you’re around a group of people just how many will say ooh I deserve this treat I’ve been good this morning. You will be surprised the amount of people who do the same as you!

How Can I Control My Weight?

We’ve all seen and heard the old advice, eat less exercise more, but let’s face it that’s easier said than done. What you firstly need to do is realise what it is that is your weakness, there can be many different factors that inhibit us from losing weight, gaining or controlling weight.

  • Motivation and the lack of it
  • Emotional eating
  • Social eating
  • Stress in the workplace
  • Stress at home
  • Habitual
  • Find food comforting
  • Cravings
  • Knowledge

These are just a few of the factors that can stop us from getting control of our weight. Once you have realised what it is that’s stopping you my advice is to make a change! This might sound like a really small thing at first and you might be thinking how can a change make a difference! But what I always say to people is you never know how far a change can go.

Make just one small change for example if your inhibiting factor is habit, so if after work you normally get home, put your comfies on and you grab that bar of chocolate ready to watch your favourite TV programme every evening out of habit I want you to change your routine, when you get home try running a bath or changing into your gym clothes and go for a walk something completely different to what you would usually do.

Albert Einstein’s definition of insanity was “to do the same thing every day and expect different results” this is absolutely perfect for us to take with us to keep your mind set on trying something different. You can’t possibly expect to lose weight or gain weight doing the same thing day in day out.

Stop telling yourself you “can’t have” because you’re on a diet it just doesn’t work, you firstly need to get into the correct mind set to take control of your life and finally rid yourself of that weight problem once and for all.

“where the mind goes the body will follow”
